Before moving on, please remove the Windows bit driver since it is not designed for Windows Vista. But my other adaptec scsi raid s gives error that device cannot be started. Given the situation, I suggest you contact Adaptec Support to double check whether this product support Windows Vista. I tried using the signed bit drivers dp the device would start. Adaptec – Technical Support.
It found the drive in device manager. I went to adaptecs website and they are stating that drivers are on the dvd.

By the way, could you please confirm the following points? I notice the issue persists after installing Windows Vista driver, so you installed a signed Windows bit driver and the device cannot adaptdc started. I test software for a living so anything you can ask me to do I can do.
So why will this controller not start?? Thank you for your understanding. Looking at driver details in device manager the same driver is used for both controllers. It is strange because the same driver controls both the sata and the scsi raid adapter?? Rebooting the system returns the device to a cannot start state.
